Terms of Service

In plain terms: SearchWebCode lets you search publicly available web source code. You pay per search from a prepaid balance. Use it lawfully, don't abuse the service, and understand that results come from public data “as-is.” The full terms are below.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using SearchWebCode (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

2. What the Service does

SearchWebCode is a search engine over source code from publicly accessible web pages. It returns pages whose published HTML, CSS, or JavaScript contains the string or pattern you search for, and lets you view that public source. We index publicly available data and do not bypass authentication, paywalls, or access controls.

3. Accounts

You’re responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide a valid email and keep your password secure. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

4. Billing & credit

  • Searches are billed from a prepaid balance at the per-search rate shown at checkout.
  • Top-ups are processed by our payment provider. Added credit is applied to your balance; unused balance does not expire.
  • Credit is for use within the Service and is non-transferable. Balance already consumed by completed searches is non-refundable. If a search fails on our side, the charge for it is reversed.
  • Prices may change going forward; changes never apply retroactively to credit already purchased.

4a. Unlimited subscription

  • Unlimited is a recurring subscription, billed monthly or yearly in advance at the price shown at checkout, and renews automatically until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period; access continues until then. Partial periods are not refunded.
  • Unlimited includes searches on the website and through the API, and watched searches, subject to a fair-use limit of 500 requests per day across all of them (3,000 per day on Unlimited Pro). Above that, requests are declined until the limit resets, and we may offer a higher limit under a separate agreement.
  • Your prepaid balance is unaffected by a subscription. If the subscription lapses, per-search billing resumes from that balance.
  • We may change the subscription price for future periods; we will notify you before a renewal to which a new price applies.

4b. Research plans and bulk exports

Research and Pro subscriptions include the monthly search credits and export rows shown at checkout. Annual subscriptions receive monthly allowances. Allowances reset on your original billing anniversary in UTC, do not roll over, and usage already consumed remains counted after a tier change. Existing Unlimited subscriptions retain their purchased daily entitlements.

One search credit covers a query and 25 additional page or scan requests during a sliding 24 hour session. Additional blocks use another credit. Extra credits use prepaid credit at 5 cents each; proven empty results and engine failures are refunded. Throughput and daily request protections apply independently.

Exports under the new terms require a row limit and an approved spending ceiling. We reserve the maximum quoted cost from prepaid credit, then settle delivered rows and return unused credit and reserved allowance. Fast sampled exports may contain false positives and may fall back to full verification at the quoted verified rate. A failed export with no downloadable file releases the reservation. Cancellation of a running job may produce a partial file, charged only for delivered rows. Your card is not automatically charged for overages.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • break any law, or infringe others’ rights;
  • send automated traffic that degrades or circumvents the Service, resell raw access, or evade metering;
  • target, harass, or endanger any individual, or facilitate unauthorized intrusion into systems.

Security research and competitive/technology analysis on public data are welcome; using results to attack systems or people is not.

6. Data & results

Results reflect public web content collected at a point in time and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. Indexed content belongs to its respective publishers; we surface and link to it for search and analysis. You’re responsible for how you use what you find.

7. Availability & changes

The Service is provided on an evolving basis and may change, pause, or add features. We aim for high availability but don’t guarantee uninterrupted service.

8. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SearchWebCode is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. On termination for cause, unused balance may be forfeited.
